Title: Removing the suggestion format
Post by: IX I I on March 27, 2018, 11:06:40 AM
Your name: Blue911
Suggestion: The title pretty much describes my suggestion. I feel like following a suggestion form in order to post your suggestion is not needed at all. Especially the 'Why should we add this?' part is kind of unnecessary since (at least most of the time) the 'Suggestion' part above explains a person's entire suggestion already and thus the use and benefit. We should instead add some more information regarding submitting suggestions in the format thread (https://forum.reloadedserver.com/index.php/topic,15.msg20.html#msg20) (can be discussed below). You can "easily review" a suggestion without a format nonetheless. This might be just me, but I find suggestion formats unappealing due to not needed categories or questions.
Why should we add this?: Explained above.

There is a reason why format is as it is, because quite often, the suggestion itself is quite short or simply one or two word, which does not explain how they'd like it implemented or why, both of which help when implementing the features in the server.

And let's be honest, it doesn't really hurt anyone to write a sentence of how they're gonna use the system and why they think it is a good addition.

And if you read the suggestion format thread, it does not state that the format is mandatory, but it is highly suggested to be used to help us review the suggestions and we do not mind people straying from it as long as everything is explained clearly and in detail.

That's why I suggested adding additional information (or requirements) rather than forcing people to submit a suggestion using a format.

You don't need a format to be detailed in your suggestion. Make some requirements and rules.

And where did you find that? Nothing of sort is stated in the original thread.

not will be.

Either way, I see no purpose of this suggestion as it affects literally nothing. Those who want to suggest can spend extra 20 seconds writing up a reason why or just do as you did in this thread and explain everything in the suggestion itself.

And frankly, it is easier for people to copy a format rather than "making up their own", which might not contain necessary information on the suggestion.

Trust me, there is a reason there is a required format. Just go and look at some other servers who don't require one and the suggestion threads they get. Most people (unlike yourself) are not capable of writing a few paragraphs of text without repeating themselves or making it completely unreadable.

As for you suggestion to add additional information to the format thread, what exactly should we add?
Most people don't even bother reading the additional info under ban appeal format, I highly doubt they would under suggestions.

All in all, as EvilShadeZ already said, you can still post a thread not using the format. It MIGHT be removed, but if it's neatly written then it most likely will not. The guidelines say it CAN be removed, depending on the thread and on the admin's decision (unlike ban appeals for example, who REQUIRE format 100%).
