Post by: EvilShadeZ on April 04, 2016, 06:29:54 PM
Actors & Their Uses

This tutorial will go in-depth on how to use the brand-new actor system in MovieServer Reloaded. Actors can be of a great use when recording videos, as they can be used to create crowds or some* characters.

Limitations:
Quote

  • Actors are unable to move
  • Actors cannot carry weapons
  • Actors cannot be inside vehicles
  • Actors cannot be spawned in world 0

Uses for actors:
Quote

  • Large crowds
  • Background for a movie scene
  • Replacement of human actors for characters which do not require movement, weapons or being inside a vehicle
  • And other uses

Commands:

/createactor <skinid>
Description:
Spawns an actor with the selected skin at your position and facing angle.

/deleteactor <actorid>
Description:
Deletes the actor identified by actorid.

/getactor <actorid>
Description:
Teleports the actor back to your position.

/actoranim <actorid> <animid> <looping>
Description:
Sets the playing animation for an actor.

/actorstopanim <actorid>
Description:
Stops the current actor animation.

/actorhealth <actorid> <health>
Description:
Sets the health of an actor.
Actors are currently unable to be killed via gunshots, explosions, fire and melee damage. Setting actors' health to 0 can kill it.

* Due to the limitations of the actors, they cannot be used to play all the roles of characters. Refer to the limitations above.

I'd like to add some useful pointers for more in-depth use of actors.

Faking movement

You can technically make an actor move. You can do so by applying a walking animation to it. Set it to loop and you can record a few second long scenes of them moving. Keep in mind the animation will reset the actor to it's starter position once it's done playing, so this method only works for short scenes.

Adding weapons

You can also technically give actors weapons. You can only achive this effect with stationary type anims. Once you have the animation you desire set, you can use the ingame mapping system (http://forum.reloadedserver.com/index.php/topic,182.0.html) to create a weapon object and position it in the hands of the actor to give the effect of the actor holding the gun.
